About Debbie Sipe, CalARVC
Debbie Sipe began her career in the RV Park Industry at the age of 12 when her parents opened the Auburn KOA RV Park in Northern California. For ten years Debbie learned all aspects of running a park from managing the camp store and registration office to cleaning restrooms and running swimming pool races on 4thof July Weekends. In 1981, Debbie started working for the California Association of RV Parks & Campgrounds. When she started working for CalARVC there were 165 members and along with the camping guide, just a few other member benefits.
Over the past 30 plus years, Debbie has worked in every aspect of the association. In August of 2004, Debbie assumed the position of Executive Director/CEO and runs CalARVC with the help of 3 additional staff. CalARVC now has over 300 members statewide; a for-profit subsidiary corporation responsible for all consumer marketing efforts such as the camping guide, website, electronic newsletters, PR program; budgets totaling over $700,000; more than 25 different products & publications; an active legislative advocacy program; political action committee; and more than 10 different programs offering its members savings and means to improve their operations.
Debbie participates in the California Roundtable on Recreation, Parks & Tourism, is a past Board Member of the California Travel Association (CalTravel), participates in CalTravel’s Legislative Roundtable on Tourism, is Treasurer of the Campground Association of Management Professionals (CAMP) and is a member of the California & American Society of Association Executives.
Debbie graduated from CSU, Sacramento in 1985 with a BA degree in English. She has two adult children. In her spare time, she and her husband Michael tend a large vegetable garden and camp with family & friends. She also is the Treasurer for a local Boy Scout Troop.
